In the remote hills of Chhedagad Municipality in Jajarkot District, Nepal, a 30-year-old man lives a life shaped by courage, patience and determination.

Born with a physical disability that affects his movement and ability to perform everyday tasks, he also faces severe financial hardship. With no family or relatives available to support him, he lives alone and meets his daily needs through his own effort.

Village Life

Facing Life Without Giving Up

Despite the challenges he has faced since childhood, he completed his education up to Grade 10. Continuing his studies was not possible, and life became even more difficult afterward. However, he refused to give up.

Every day, from morning until evening, he manages his household and takes care of himself. Tasks that may seem simple to others require great patience and effort from him, but he continues to perform them independently.

Preparing a Traditional Village Meal

His morning begins beside a traditional stone stove. He lights the fire and prepares corn rotis using the resources available around his home.

He grinds the maize, mixes the flour with water and carefully shapes the dough into round rotis. He then cooks each roti over the stone stove. Every step reflects his patience, skill and determination to live independently.

After preparing the rotis, he collects nettle greens, locally known as ‘sishnu’, from the nearby forest. He washes the leaves thoroughly, boils them over the fire and prepares a nutritious curry.

The smoke rising from the stove and the natural surroundings reflect the simplicity of rural life in Nepal. Corn rotis and nettle curry form one of his regular meals—prepared entirely through his own work and with ingredients gathered from his surroundings.

A Strong Connection With Nature

He has few modern conveniences, but he has developed a close relationship with nature. The forest, fields, firewood and traditional stone stove have become essential parts of his daily life.

Despite living with disability, poverty and isolation, he continues to choose self-reliance over despair. His strength is not shown through grand achievements but through the quiet courage required to face each new day.

A Story That Deserves to Be Heard

His life carries an important message. Even in times of isolation, scarcity and hardship, patience and inner strength can help a person continue moving forward.

Disability and poverty are part of his circumstances, but they do not define his worth. He demonstrates that a person can live with independence, dignity and purpose, even while facing extraordinary challenges.

Stories like his deserve to be heard, understood and treated with respect. His life is a powerful reminder of human resilience and the strength that can exist within an ordinary village home.
